If you're one of DoorDash's full-time food delivery drivers, chances are you're already well-acquainted with the Top Dasher program. Now, since the Top Dasher program has been canceled, they're beta-testing an upgrade to this level in the form of Platinum.
This new level offers even superior rewards, but the question on every Dasher’s mind is undoubtedly “Is DoorDash Platinum worth it”?
In this article, we'll be going over what Platinum status is, who it's for, and whether you should upgrade from basic Top Dasher status.
We'll also explain how e-bikes, such as the Whizz Storm-2, can assist you in maximizing rewards and earning potential using these programs.
The Top Dasher program has been canceled since the start of 2024. This system allowed the drivers to strategically reject low-paying or long-distance trips and still qualify by maintaining better metrics by the final week of the month.
Under the old system, riders were required to maintain certain metrics by the final week of the month. These metrics were:
This would earn Top Dasher status for the entirety of the following month, regardless of any decline in the following month.
However, recent innovations include phasing out Top Dasher and adopting an alternate Platinum Status model. In contrast to Top Dasher, renewed on a month-by-month basis, this one operates under different conditions.
Here, the driver is constantly required to maintain all the qualification metrics—Acceptance Rate, Rating, Completion Rate, and 100 deliveries in the past 30 days. Dipping below these can instantly nullify privileges like “Dash Anytime.”
This change has been problematic for Dashers. For instance, going on vacation or being temporarily below 70% Acceptance can cause immediate loss of access.
Not presently enabled nationwide, Platinum Status will replace Top Dasher in the foreseeable future.
As mentioned, Platinum is the new rewards tier DoorDash is launching in some locations. It's intended to provide better rewards for its best-earning and busiest Dashers. It's an upgrade of DoorDash's existing Top Dasher level, with added reward perks.
Platinum status, provided by DoorDash, can bring about the following benefits:
The idea is to reward drivers for making a large volume of deliveries with high reliability and customer satisfaction.
The majority of Dashers know of Top Dasher, which already provides perks such as the accessibility to Dash deliveries at any time, access to additional deliveries, and less downtime between orders.
Platinum is striving to take it to the next level.
In practice, however, various Dashers have said that the real benefits might not prove so revolutionary in advertising.
Some community members had underwhelming experiences where they claimed that they had been Platinum for weeks, but they didn’t notice that big of an upgrade from when they were just Top Dasher.
Others found they were getting slightly better orders, although not quite good enough to affect pay.
If you're an existing high-performance Dash worker who's already at the Top Dasher level, achieving Platinum status may not be so difficult. Consider, however, the pros and cons.
pros:
cons:
For other drivers, whether "is Platinum DoorDash worth it" is dependent upon their location and strategy. If your area is saturated in Dashers, achieving an edge can make quite an impact. In other instances, minimal differences can be seen.
To become eligible and thrive in Platinum, you will need to maintain good numbers consistently as well as work during off-peak hours. Of course, by this, it is implied that you should decrease order rejections.
And yet another big secret used by champion drivers is this one: the ideal bike can make all the difference.
For city-based Dashers, e-bikes bring an enormous advantage. Developed for gig workers themselves, Whizz Storm-2 features have been designed to get you to Top Dasher and possibly even Platinum level in no time. How does it exactly help Dashers?
Thousands of Dashers nationwide are now turning to e-bikes so they can remain competitive and boost daily effectiveness, so why not upgrade for more efficiency?

It depends. If you already have high ratings consistently and are working full-time for DoorDash, Platinum might be worth it, but there are things that you should remember.
Don't accept too low-paying orders in an attempt to increase your acceptance rate. Another thing to remember is to always monitor your hourly pay, not your number of orders.
Make use of equipment, such as the Storm-2 e-bike, to boost your delivery capacity and efficiency. If you're part-time or in a sluggish market, you probably won't get much back.
So, with all that being said, the question still stands as to whether DoorDash Platinum is worth it.
High-earning, full-time Dashers in high-demand locations may get more consistent orders and extra perks.
If you are still thinking about whether it would be the right move for you, consider how much you work for it to be profitable. Regardless of your decision, there are other ways to get ahead.
Whether you're a Dasher or not, it is to upgrade your delivery bike. Check out Whizz and see why clever Dashers across the country have switched.
