Can I rent a bike without a credit card?

Most rental services, including Whizz, accept credit cards as the main payment option. In some cases, you can rent a bike without a credit card, but it largely depends on the rental company's policies.

While credit cards are the most commonly accepted form of payment and deposit, some companies offer alternative options. These include:

  • Debit cards. Next to credit cards, debit cards are the main form of payment when renting an electric bike. Most rental companies, including Whizz, will accept debit cards. However, some may still place a hold or pre-authorization on the card as a security deposit. Still, it’s important to remember that debit cards are more widely accepted in local bike rental shops or smaller services. Larger chains may require a credit card and credit card only.
  • Cash payments. Some bike rental companies, particularly smaller local businesses, accept cash payments – although this is quite rare. Such locations typically require security deposits to ensure the bike is returned in good condition. They’ll return the deposit once the renter returns the e-bike in good condition.
  • Mobile payment apps. In certain regions, rental companies may accept mobile payment platforms. These include PayPal, Venmo, or digital wallets like Apple Pay and Google Pay. The deposit is sometimes required, so make sure to check with the rental company about the exact rental conditions.
  • Prepaid cards. Some rental services accept prepaid debit or credit cards.

Renting without a credit card can be tricky, but it is possible. Your best option is to get a debit card.

They are usually as reliable a source of payment as a credit card, and most rental companies accept them.

Still, you should contact your rental provider beforehand and ask them about available payment methods. They will help confirm the best option for you and your situation.

The same goes with Whizz. Credit cards are not our only payment option, so don’t worry.

If you don’t have a credit card but have a debit card, you can still rent your e-bike by choosing a proper plan that fits your needs and making monthly payments. You’ll need a valid ID card, and you can start earning money as a delivery rider immediately.

You can also opt for split payments. These allow you to own your e-bike after making several monthly payments. This is much more affordable than purchasing an e-bike and paying full price upfront.

Lastly, if you have the money, you can purchase an electric bike directly from Whizz and stop worrying about making monthly payments.
